I’ll admit I was never a fan of foaming hand soaps.

They felt watery and just didn’t feel like I was getting my hands clean.

But I’ve recently discovered that the kind of foam soap and dispensers you use make a big difference in your handwashing experience when using foam soap.

We’ve all been to a public bathroom with a foam soap dispenser that puts a pitiful amount of soap into your palm that feels like nothing more than water when using it.

One asks oneself, “Is there any soap in this? Are my hands even getting clean?”

Little did I know that foam soaps have a range of luxuriousness I had yet to experience.

I sell refillable foam soap bottles in addition to many other types of refillable bottles.

So needless to say, I have a lot of experience with foam soap.

You don’t even want to know how much soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion I have around my home from creating videos, content, selling and testing my refillable bottles.

It's a lot.

So I know a thing or two about foam soaps since starting my business.

And in the last 7 years of owning and running Bottiful Home, I’ve developed a keen ability to spot the quality products and separate them from the duds.

It has taken some time for refill options to become widely available, and I always keep my eye out for the best options for you because I want you to get the best experience from your refillable bottles.

So I’ve rounded up the top 10 best foaming soap refills on Amazon that promise to elevate your handwashing routine.

From best-selling options with thousands of glowing reviews to hidden gems that deserve more attention, these foaming soaps not only clean effectively but also add a touch of luxury to your everyday life.

I’ve given you options that cater to every preference, whether you're in search of something eco-friendly, soothing for sensitive skin, or simply the best-smelling soap on the market.

And the best part is that each of them is offered is large quantity gallon sized bottles, pouches or cartons so you get the best price per ounce and also do something great for the environment.

Why Foaming Soap Is a Must-Have for Luxurious Handwashing

Foaming soap is a staple in many US households.

When you get the right bottle and the right foam soap, the rich, frothy lather offers a sensory experience that makes handwashing feel indulgent and refreshing.

In fact, my new favorite foam soaps have me washing my hands a few seconds longer just because I like how it feels when I rub my hands together.

And that’s saying a lot coming from someone who struggles to get the full 20 seconds of handwashing in, especially because I wash my hands so many times a day.

So what makes foaming soap a must-have for those who value a luxurious handwashing routine?

Gentle Yet Effective Cleansing

Most foam soaps are known for their ability to cleanse without stripping the skin of its natural oils. The lather is injected with air, making it easier to spread across the hands and reach every nook and cranny, ensuring a thorough clean. Despite its light texture, foaming soap is highly effective at removing dirt, oils, and germs, making it ideal for frequent handwashing.

Moisturizing Benefits

Many foaming soaps are formulated with moisturizing ingredients like glycerin, aloe vera, and essential oils. These ingredients help to keep the skin hydrated, preventing the dryness that can come with regular handwashing. The moisturizing properties of luxury foaming soap make it especially appealing for those with sensitive or dry skin.

Luxurious Texture

The soft, bubbly texture of foaming soap adds a touch of luxury to an otherwise routine task. The lather feels silky and smooth, making handwashing an enjoyable experience rather than a chore. The good foam soaps really do feel like silk against your skin.

Economical and Eco-Friendly

Foaming soap dispensers release less soap per pump compared to traditional liquid soap dispensers, which means a single bottle of foaming soap can last longer than traditional liquid soap. This makes foaming soap a more economical choice in the long run. It’s also helpful that foaming soaps are becoming more available in refill bulk options, reducing plastic waste and making them more cost effective.

Encourages Better Hand Hygiene

Because foaming soap is fun to use, it encourages frequent handwashing, which is essential for maintaining good hygiene. The pleasant experience of using foaming soap can make both adults and children more likely to wash their hands thoroughly and regularly, contributing to better overall health. I actually look forward to washing my hands with foam soap now that I use my foaming soap dispenser that I developed myself in combination with luxurious pre-mixed foaming soap. That’s a pretty big transformation coming from not liking foam soap at all.

Whether you’re looking to pamper your skin or simply enjoy the process of handwashing more, foaming soap is a must-have addition to your home.

You may even get your kids to enjoy the process if you switch to foaming soap.

I know I really like how it feels, so does my young daughter.

I imagine your kids would love it too.

How to Choose the Best Foaming Soaps

When it comes to picking the best foaming soaps, it’s not just about finding a product that cleans your hands—it's about the overall experience.

From how it feels to how it smells, and even how it impacts your skin, several factors come into play.

Here’s what you should consider when choosing the best foaming soaps for a truly luxurious handwashing experience.

Ingredients Matter (if they matter to you)

The first thing to look at is the ingredients list. High-quality foaming soaps often contain natural ingredients like essential oils, aloe vera, and glycerin, which not only clean but also moisturize and soothe the skin. Avoid soaps with harsh chemicals, sulfates, or parabens, especially if you have sensitive skin. Natural and organic options are generally better for your skin and the environment. For me, the ingredients matter more from the perspective of how they feel, bind together properly and last over time. But you may value organic ingredients or natural ingredients. If so, make sure you look for those properties when searching for foam soaps. They’re pretty easy to spot because the companies that make natural soaps and organic soaps love to market those properties. It can usually be found right in the description or on the packaging.

    Moisturizing Properties

One of the perks of using foaming soap is its ability to clean without drying out your hands. This is largely due to there being less soap in the mixture than regular liquid soaps that can be more drying on the skin. Look for foaming soaps that include moisturizing agents like shea butter, coconut oil, or vitamin E. These ingredients help keep your skin soft and hydrated, making handwashing a pleasant experience rather than a chore. These are widely available so you shouldn’t have any issues finding one you like that has moisturizing properties.

    Scent

I’m not sure scent matters equally to everyone, but it’s a pretty big factor in choosing any soap, shampoo or detergent for me. The scent of a foaming soap can elevate the entire handwashing experience. Whether you prefer something floral, citrusy, or earthy, the fragrance can make a simple task feel luxurious. However, if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies, you might want to opt for fragrance-free or naturally scented options. Luckily, foaming soaps are offered in a wide range of scented and unscented options.

    Foam Quality

Not all foams are created equal. The best foaming soaps produce a rich, dense lather that feels creamy and luxurious on the skin. A good foam will evenly coat your hands and rinse off easily without leaving a residue. This not only feels great but ensures that your hands are thoroughly cleaned. The foam produced by a foaming soap is dependent on both the soap itself and the foaming dispenser that you use. I happen to love the beautiful foaming dispensers I designed myself for this very reason. With good quality soap, the foam that’s dispensed is so silky and amazing. It feels so good it’s hard to put words to it. The soap’s silkiness is only outdone by its easy rinsing under water. No standing under the water for several minutes trying to get the soap off your hands.

    Eco-Friendliness

If sustainability is important to you, consider foaming soaps that come in eco-friendly packaging or offer refillable options. Many brands are now focusing on reducing plastic waste by providing refill solutions or packaging made from recycled materials. Even if you buy your soap in a gallon jug, you’re still saving plastic over buying the same amount of soap in eight or twelve ounce containers. But some of the refill options I provide below are also available in cardboard boxes with a spigot or pouches, in case you prefer to choose based on packaging type. Additionally, soaps made with biodegradable ingredients are better for the environment, breaking down without harming ecosystems.

    Skin Sensitivity

If you have sensitive skin, it’s crucial to choose a foaming soap that’s gentle and free from irritants. Hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested options are usually safer for those with skin conditions like eczema or allergies. Additionally, look for products labeled as "non-comedogenic," meaning they won’t clog your pores. While I don’t have any skin allergies or sensitivities, my daughter does, so I understand the trials of finding soaps and lotions that won’t cause reactions. In order to find a foaming soap your skin likes, you may have to test a few then choose based on how you react and how well you like them. If this is you, I don’t recommend buying soap in bulk until you know that soap will work for you.

    Customer Reviews and Ratings

Before making a purchase, it’s always a good idea to check customer reviews and ratings on the relevant site. These insights can help you gauge how well the product performs in real-life situations, offering perspectives on everything from the scent to the moisturizing effects. Products with consistently high ratings and positive feedback are often a safer bet.

Choosing the best foaming soap is about more than just picking a popular brand. It’s about finding a product that aligns with your personal preferences, skin type, and values.

By considering these criteria, you’ll be well on your way to selecting a foaming soap that not only cleans effectively but also enhances your daily handwashing ritual with a touch of luxury.

With all this said, here are the top rated and most purchased foaming soap refills you can buy on Amazon right now.

Top 10 Foaming Soap on Amazon

      1. Bath and Body Works

With notes of mahogany, teakwood and oak, this mahogany teakwood scented foaming hand soap is one of my favorite scents. If you’re into flowery or sweet smelling soap, this one isn’t for you. But if you’re like me and you prefer the scents of musk, wood and camp fires, then you’ll probably love this scent. You will get a better price if you buy directly from Bath and Body Works in store, but if you’ve got to have it shipped to you for any reason, the one on Amazon may be the way to go.

While this scent doesn’t have many reviews on Amazon, it has over 600 reviews on the Bath & Body Works website with an overall rating of 4.7 stars. Now that’s a winner! If you didn’t know you could buy Bath & Body soaps on Amazon, now you do! You’ll probably get the best price on these soaps in the Bath & Body Works store, but not all the stores carry all the refill options. So if you’re in need of an easy way to get your favorite scent, Amazon for the win.

The foaming soap refills at Bath & Body Works come in many different scents now, but one of the most popular ones on Amazon is the kitchen lemon scent. It gets a 4.6 star rating with almost 35,000 reviews. Wow. People really like that one.

This isn’t going to be the cheapest foaming hand soap you find on Amazon, but due to its luxurious feel and truly tantalizing scents, it’s my top pick for best overall foaming soap.

What I love about this soap:
      1. The scent is woodsy and musky, not flowery.
      2. It comes in a cardboard carton (like a half gallon of milk) so it’s recyclable and eco-friendly.
      3. It costs less to purchase one of the refill cartons than the same amount of soap in plastic bottles.
      4. It creates amazing foam when paired with the right foaming soap dispenser.

What customers are saying about this soap:

        1. Bastion

With over 11,000 reviews and a 4.5 star rating, Bastion Foaming Hand Soap is one of the most highly rated and frequently purchased foaming hand soap refills on Amazon. This soap comes in several different scents and sizes, so if you’re not ready to commit to a big refill gallon jug, you can try out a smaller 8 oz., 10 oz., or 21 oz. first.

Some of the wonderful scents include coconut, mandarin orange, warm vanilla, and pina colada. But they have more, so feel free to check them out.

What’s more, this antibacterial foaming hand soap contains no parabens, phthalates, triclosan or formaldehyde. So it’s safe for most skin types.

What I love about this soap:

        1. It’s antibacterial and rinses cleanly and easily.
        2. It comes in a clear half gallon and gallon jugs, making it easy to store, pour and see how much is left.
        3. It’s made in the USA.
        4. The scents are amazing. With choices ranging from citrus to sea breeze, you’re sure to find one you love.

What customers are saying about this soap:

        1. Method

These foam soaps are well loved on Amazon and for good reason! This waterfall scented soap gets an overall 4.8 star rating from Amazon customers. That’s no easy feat.

According to the soap’s packaging, the refill bottles use 3 times less plastic than buying the same amount of soap in individual bottles. That’s great for the environment! And what’s more, the plastic bottles are made from 50% recycled materials and are recyclable when you’re finished with them. Wow. All good news for the environment. You have to feel good about that.

If you prefer a smaller portion and don’t mind getting your refills in the pouches that aren’t recyclable, then this waterfall scented 28 ounce pouch refill will be perfect for you.

The soap itself is free from parabens and phthalates, animal cruelty free and plant based. The waterfall scent is clean smelling with notes of water lilies and sandalwood.

What I love about this soap:

        1. It rinses cleanly without leftover residue or running the water for several minutes to rinse it off.
        2. The undernotes of sandalwood make the scent more woodsy and masculine than an typical floral scent.
        3. The 50% post consumer materials in the bottles are a wonderful way to make use of the millions of tons of plastic bottles that get recycled every year.

What customers are saying about this soap:

        1. Clean Revolution

One of the best values on this list has to be Clean Revolution Foaming Hand Soap Refill. It’s a lovely lavender scent in a full gallon jug for a very affordable price. The scent on this soap is lightly additive and not overwhelming at all, though I believe that scent strength has a lot to do with the beholder of the scent. Some find it stronger than others. This particular scent is primarily lavender with notes of herbs and citrus underneath.

This Clean Revolution soap is sulfate-free, non-toxic and biodegradable. It’s listed as very good for dry skin, so it won’t dry your skin out, and I found that to be true as well.

What I love about this soap:

          1. It’s made in the USA.
          2. It’s very affordable compared to its counterparts.
          3. It creates a nice lathery foam that feels pillowy on the skin.
          4. There is a fragrance free option for those that don’t tolerate scented soaps well.

What customers are saying about this soap:

        1. JR Watkins

The lemon scented foaming soap refill pouches
are a high quality alternative to purchasing individual soap bottles over and over again just to throw them in the recycle bin when you’re finished. Pouches have in recent years been widely accepted as a more environmentally-friendly alternative to plastic bottles. And JR Watkins doesn’t disappoint with it’s 25% post-consumer materials used in its pouches. Just keep in mind that the pouches themselves are not recyclable.

Lemon scent is often associated with the scent of clean. Something about that citrus hitting you in the back of the nasal canal tells you it’s fresh and ready for the next activity. It’s also one of the most popular scents for cleaning agents and hand soaps. The JR Watkins version of lemon scent won’t disappoint. An overwhelming 94% of customers on Amazon have rated this soap at a 4 or 5 star product.

This foaming soap is free from dyes, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, EDTA (this is a link to the national library of medicine on EDTA, an official website of the US government) which can have adverse effects on those suffering from renal disease and SLES (this is a link to the national library of medicine on sodium laureth sulfate) which can be an irritant to sensitive skin.

What I love about this soap:
          1. It’s made in the USA since
          2. It’s made with calendula and vitamins E and D to soothe and keep skin moisturized.
          3. Plant based ingredients (but not entirely plant derived)
          4. No dyes.

Want to know what I really dislike about most soap companies? They have ingredients that turn the soap red or yellow or blue. Then I pour their soap into my beautiful refillable foaming soap bottle that I purposely made to look pretty and suddenly I’ve got a bottle full of colored liquid that stands out on the counter. My whole purpose of a pretty bottle is to look like décor, and now I’ve got color clashing happening. Especially the yellow soaps. They look like you-know-what sitting on your counter. Ugh. So I appreciate when there are no dyes.

Here’s what customer have to say about this soap:

        1. Puracy

          This foaming hand soap refill
offering comes in refill pouches instead of boxes or bottles. If this is your preferred method of receiving refills, you’ll want to give Puracy a try. They’ve been well-loved as a cleanser, soap and shampoo provider on Amazon for years, and they’ve got the presence to prove it. This particular one is a lavender vanilla scent. Based on the Amazon reviews, almost everyone loves the scent. What I love about it is that it’s not too floral for a lavender. The vanilla helps to balance out the scent so it’s not overwhelming and you don’t feel like you’ve just washed your hands with flowers. I know some people love the scent of florals on their body. I’m not one of those people.

Puracy was founded as a family-owned business to provide safe and effective cleaning agents to families concerned about these things. They list on the Amazon page 15 things the soap is free from. I’m not going to list them all here. You can check it out for yourself. Not all the “free-from” items will matter to all people, but it’s the biggest list of free-from agents I’ve seen in all my soap buying and searching days.

Here's what I love about Puracy foaming hand soap refills:
          1. It’s made in the USA from USA ingredients.
          2. It’s fortified with vitamin E and aloe to nourish and moisturize the skin.
          3. It’s hypoallergenic.
          4. It creates a luxurious foam that feels good on your hands while you use it.

Here’s what customer have to say about this soap:

        1. Dial Antibacterial

          Dial Foaming Hand Wash
is by far the most soap you get per dollar spent. The scent is spring water, which is a slightly floral scent with some notes of linen or cotton. There are other scents available in more distinct scents like fresh pear, soothing white tea, both of which are subtle and mostly single note scents. You won’t get the complexity of scent like a Bath & Body Works soap, or even some of the other soaps on this list. But they smell clean and fresh and will wash your hand perfectly well.

Dial antibacterial foaming hand soaps claim to alleviate 99.9% of bacteria commonly encountered in a household setting. These soaps are described as being free from sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), parabens, phthalates, and silicone. It does have aloe vera for skin moisturization and is certified cruelty free by the Leaping Bunny

This set of refills comes in 4 separate plastic bottles that are made from 100% recycled materials. You can’t get mad at plastic bottles that were made from recycled materials. At the very least, we should feel great that there’s proof that plastic really does get recycled into useful materials.

Here's what I love about Dial foaming hand soaps:
          1. They’re the best value, in terms of cost per ounce, in the whole list.
          2. They offer a variety of scents.
          3. All their bottles are made from recycled plastic.
          4. There are some scents available that are completely clear. I love when soap is clear.

Here’s what customer have to say about this soap:

        1. GreenFist

          This foaming hand soap
made it on the list for one very important reason: there are 16 scents available, as of the writing of this article, that are such a good variety you should have no problem finding one you love.

This soap comes in a 1 gallon jug, which saves on plastic when compared to the same amount of soap packaged in individual bottles. And the jugs are recyclable, so no worries there.

From scent of fruit to floral to coconut, you have a large selection to choose from, and the scents are really nice. I tried the coconut because it’s one of my favorite scents. You can’t always get a good coconut scent. Sometimes coconut scented soap has an artificial undernote that I really don’t enjoy. But this soap smells of fresh coconut like a pina colada. These soaps are more lightly scented than others on the list so if you prefer a soap that doesn’t smell for long after you wash your hands, this might the right one for you.

It also claims to be free from parabens, EDTA, phthalates, glycol and dyes.

One of the biggest differences I saw with this soap is the moisturizer used is just labeled as “vegetable oils” instead of aloe vera or natural ingredients. It is also not free from sulfates.

If you want a wide range of scent options to choose from, GreenFist could be a nice option for you.

What I love about this soap:
          1. It’s very affordable.
          2. It comes in a 1-gallon jug, which I think is easier to store than several smaller refill bottles like Dial.
          3. It offers 16 scent options that cover a wide range of preferences.
          4. It claims to be plant-based and biodegradable (the soap, not the bottle)

Here’s what customer have to say about this soap:

        1. Puremax

The Puremax Foaming Hand Soap Refill Gallon in Mahogany Birchwood
is one of my favorite scents on the list. I don’t know how you buy your soap, but I buy based on the scent overall then secondly how it feels on my hands when it foams and cleanses. You’ll love the scents in the soap maker’s collection. They have green apple, honey almond, lavender chamomile, lemon basil, rain drops and resurrection aromatique in addition to the mahogany birchwood. And I know what you’re thinking. What the heck is resurrection aromatique. I wish I could tell you. I wasn’t brave enough to spend the money on a full gallon of soap with that name and no description of the scent.

But the mahogany birchwood is really nice and the other scents are bound to be good too.

This soap comes in a 1-gallong jug that’s recyclable and the ingredients are marketed as all natural.

The brand distinguishes itself based on its unique scents, and I think that a fair distinguishment for soap. Aside from listing all the things a soap is free from, scent seems like the most likely characteristic to make the difference with whether you’re going to buy it and enjoy it.

This soap is a good value and is well loved by many Amazon customers. The foam is good, and most people like the scents. You should be aware though that the foam you get from a soap has less to do with the soap and more to do with the foaming dispenser that you use. If you want the best foaming dispenser to go with your foaming soap, check out mine. They’re not only the best foamer I’ve been able to lay my hands on, but they are beautiful too.

Here's what I love about Puremax foaming hand soap:
          1. Offered in one gallon bottles
          2. Some of the best scent options, second only to Bath & Body Works scents
          3. Made in the USA
          4. Good value for the price

Here’s what customer have to say about this soap:

        1. Blueland

The final foaming soap to make this list is a little different than the rest. And the reason I included it is because you may enjoy the eco-friendly impact and different format of this foaming soap. But bare in mind that BLUELAND Foaming Hand Soap Tablet Refills may cause issues for some people. The main issue being if you aren’t patient or don’t want any extra effort, you may experience a lack of dissolving of the complete tablet.

You may have guessed already, but the Blueland foaming hand soap tablets are a powdered tablet form that you have to add water and dissolve in order to make soap. This format is great for the environment in one major way. It costs way less to ship than soaps that are already made in the proper consistency.

It's definitely not the most economical soap on the list though, so bare in mind that brands touting their eco-friendly format are often charging quite a lot more for the product itself. And rest assured the cost of the product is actually less than that of its pre-mixed counterpart.

For best results, dissolve your tablets in warm or hot water and wait at least an hour before using it. Also make sure to stir the contents and look for grit at the bottom of your bottle. All foaming soap bottles will clog if there is any grit left. So if you have difficulty ensuring the tablets are dissolved, you’re better off choosing one of the other options on this list of foaming hand soaps.

With all that said, here’s what I love about the Blueland foaming hand soap tablets:
          1. The little tablets take up very little space so they can be easily stored under all your sinks for future use.
          2. The scents are really nice. They’re not quite as good as Bath & Body Works soap scents, but they rank high in overall appeal on my list. Plus they offer fragrance-free if that’s more your jam.
          3. They’re plant and mineral based and free from parabens, chlorine, phosphates and ammonia.
          4. Their packaging is 100% plastic free. They ship in a cardboard box, and they tablets are individually wrapped in compostable paper wraps. I don’t compost, but I like knowing it will break down easily when discarded.

How to Make the Most of Your Foaming Soap

If you’re a fan of both liquid and foaming soaps, you know that each type has its own perks. Foaming soap offers a light, airy lather that makes handwashing feel luxurious, while liquid soap tends to be thicker and more concentrated. To get the most out of your foaming soap, it's all about how you use it and making the product go the extra mile.

Start with a Great Foaming Soap Bottle

The key to a luxurious foaming soap experience starts with the right bottle, and Bottiful Home’s foam soap bottle is designed to deliver just that. Our bottles are specially crafted to produce a rich, bubbly foam that spreads effortlessly across your hands. The pump mechanism creates a consistent, luxurious lather that feels so satisfying, you’ll want to keep rubbing your hands together just to enjoy the sensation. The fine bubbles not only feel great but also help to cover every part of your hands, ensuring a thorough and enjoyable clean every time. A quality bottle makes a big difference, so investing in a well-designed foaming soap dispenser can elevate your handwashing routine from basic to blissful.

        Refill and Save

To get the most value from your foaming soap, consider buying foaming soap refills in bulk or utilizing refill stations whenever possible. Purchasing larger refill containers is not only more economical but also reduces the frequency of buying small, single-use bottles, which helps cut down on plastic waste. Alternatively, look for local refill stations that allow you to bring your own containers and refill them with your favorite soap, providing an eco-friendly way to keep your luxurious foaming soap experience going without the extra packaging. This approach not only saves you money but also contributes to a more sustainable lifestyle.
