Overview

Gallon jug pumps are made for larger bottles, bulk refill containers, and commercial-size products.

These pumps are different from standard soap and lotion pumps because they usually have longer dip tubes, larger thread sizes, and higher dispense amounts. Many gallon pumps dispense much more product per pump than a typical countertop bottle pump, so they are better suited for refill jugs, salon bottles, cleaning products, syrups, condiments, and bulk liquids.

Use this page to compare gallon jug replacement pumps by thread size, dip tube length, output amount, and intended use. Common sizes include 38/400 pumps for many gallon bottles, but not every gallon jug uses the same threading.

Before buying, confirm your bottle’s neck size, thread finish, bottle height, liquid thickness, and how much product you want dispensed with each pump. A pump that works well for a refill jug may dispense too much product for everyday countertop use.

How To Choose a Gallon Jug or Bottle Pump

Most pumps that fit a one-gallon bucket or jug will also fit a five-gallon bucket or bottle.

But it's worth confirming the thread dimensions before you assume and buy the wrong thing.

For more information on how to correctly measure your threads, see this article on How to Find the Right Replacement Pump for Your Refillable Bottle and The Best Replacement Pumps for Bottles where I discuss the methods I use for recommending products, the correct tools for measuring and the most common sizes.

One thing that's very different for finding the right replacement pump for a gallon bottle, as opposed to a regular soap or lotion bottle, is that you have to consider the height of your container more seriously.

While you always need a dip tube that's long enough for the container, this consideration becomes more exaggerated with larger containers.

I've listed the dip tube lengths for your convenience in the table above.

However, if you don't like the options I provided or you choose to research it yourself, just make sure to consider how deep your container is and how much tubing will be needed to reach all your contents.

Important Fit and Availability Notes

While it's not very difficult to find replacement pumps for gallon jugs or bottles, the ones that are available differ widely in a few areas.

First, as discussed above, the tubing (dip tube) length can vary widely.

They're almost all plastic, but the styles vary widely from direct down pouring models to horizontal pouring models to models with little caps to prevent leakage.

And finally, the output volume of gallon pumps can vary between 7 or 8 ccs to 50 or more ccs.

CCs are the measure used to determine the volume of liquid output.

The difference between 7 ccs and 50 ccs is significant and should be decided based on what you're using the pump for.
