Discovering a Kindred Spirit

A couple weeks ago, I received an order from a customer who has been on my email list for a long time.

She used a different email for her order than the one in my email subscription, and I noticed it was an email for a business.

Any time I receive an order from a business email, I will look up that business.

Sound stalker-ish?

It shouldn’t.

I don’t do it to find addresses, phone numbers or personal info on the person.

I look them up to see if we have symbiotic interests, audiences and values.

I want to know if I can support them in any way.

Having been a “start-up” company for more years than I would like to admit, I know how hard it can be to gain the first bit of traction in business.

You can’t post reviews because no one has bought your items or program or counsel yet.

You can’t show proof of how good you are at what you do because no one has given you a chance to work with them yet.

Ok, you get it.

So I looked up this customer’s business and immediately realized she was working in a space that aligns well with the foundational values of Bottiful Home.

She is helping people with planning big purchases, living their best lives and loving their lives while accomplishing their goals.

All of those things are designed to give you more peace, a fuller life and a joyful ride that you curate for yourself, precisely what Bottiful Home stands for.

A Shared Appreciation for Purposeful Design

Meet Debra, the owner of Planning, Living and Loving.

While perusing her website planninglivingandloving.com I found these really cute wooden tiles with affirmative messages on them.

I looked at them an immediately thought, “Those would be so fun to color!”

So I bought some.

What I love most about these little tiles are the messages that whisper little reminders to redirect my brain back to what’s important.

And I made a little coloring project with them.

A Personal Moment of Peace

If you haven’t colored in a while, I get it.

Adulting doesn’t always allow time for everything you really need to do, let alone something unproductive that’s just fun and calming.

I choose to make time for things like art, reading, crochet, and other hobbies because the process of doing those activities is not only calming, but restorative.

I took those little wooden tiles and started using some fine liner markers to color in the little leaves.

Then, I wanted more color on them, so I also lined the lettering that’s etched into the wood. There’s just enough room for a fine liner to fit into the grooves and make a little color spill over to the edges of the letters.

And finally, I colored the edges with a Sharpie creative marker, using the same color on all the tiles so they coordinate well with one another.

Initially, I thought I would make magnets out of these tiles using some magnet sheets cut up into squares to adhere to the backs of them.

They would be really cute like that if you want to buy them and do that yourself.

But I don’t like magnets on my fridge, so instead I found a really pretty candle jar I cleaned out and turned into a decorative jar years ago and placed the tiles in the jar.

Now every time I open the jar, I can randomly pull out a tile and be encouraged and refocused on what matters.

If you like these tiles, head on over to Debra’s website and grab some.

She also has some fun money-saving challenges, birthday party planners, notepads, and more.

I also had fun watching her YouTube videos.

Celebrating People Who Make Peace More Beautiful

Why did I make an entire blog post about someone else’s business?

Because I would rather talk about you than me.

I love that Debra is creating her own community where she helps people find peace in their finances, peace in their planned activities and peace with their loved ones.

And creating peace will always speak to me.

Peace doesn’t mean the absence of bad circumstances or trials.

It means being at ease despite the external factors.

Why I Love What I Do

Every so often, a customer reminds me why I love what I do.

It’s not just about bottles or organization or even design—it’s about the people who choose to make their spaces reflect the calm they want to feel.

Sometimes that looks like a shower niche lined with matching bottles, and sometimes it’s a handful of colorful affirmation tiles tucked inside a jar.

Each one is a small act of peace made visible.

Debra’s business venture reminds me that we’re all shaping our own version of calm, one intentional decision at a time.

And together, those decisions create a quiet kind of community—a collection of people who believe beauty and peace are a choice you make every day.

That’s one of my favorite parts of this job: finding any way I can to support the people and businesses who have chosen to subscribe to Bottiful Home, whether they’re brand new to business or well worn.

Because I am for you.

I want you to succeed.

And I believe there is room for each and every one of us to fully and joyfully succeed in life and in our work.

So, join me in congratulating Debra on her business and sending some quality traffic her way.

She couldn't ask for a better group of people than a group that includes you.
